At Purdue University Protests Over Benefits Changes

Purdue University is in the process of “simplifying” their benefits package — by making the benefits less attractive.  Those mainly impacted by the change are the clerical, custodial, and service employees, though faculty which are on a 12-month contract (as opposed to the more usual 9-month contract) are also effected.

The faculty have responded by speaking out against the changes, pressing the administration to explain why the benefits are declining and why the impact is being disproportionally felt by those with lower income.

Inside Higher Ed has a good write-up on the situation here.
